How can a death doula help you?

A death doula fills the gap between medical care from doctors/nurses and personal care from loved ones or hired help.

A death doula can give you more time to be present with loved ones by facilitating your end-of-life wishes. Choose your funeral/memorial plans and relax while your death doula makes your arrangements so you and your family have more time together.

A death doula can assist you with completing and understanding all end-of-life documents, like Advanced Health Directives and POLST documents, and know when legal support is required or recommended. Having a documented plan of your wants and don't wants for medical care, funeral arrangements, and passing down of belongings and assets can take a huge weight off of your family during a time of grieving.

A death doula is your “personal assistant” as it relates to your end-of-life journey. A death doula can coordinate communication between your Care Team, facilitate completion of end-of-life documents ensuring all wishes are up-to-date and distributed to your Care Team, pre-plan funeral and/or memorial arrangements, assist in creation of legacy projects, AND give you an advocate who knows your wishes and will do everything possible that they be fulfilled. Emotional support provided for individuals and their loved ones. Jess is a skilled listener offering a safe place to express fears, hopes, and concerns.

Vigil support during final moments and bereavement support for family members after the loss of a loved one.

Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) Education & Support

End-of-life looks different for everyone, which is why having options is so important. Jess supports MAID as an end-of-life option for terminally ill individuals. She can provide education and resources, as well as support on ingestion day, so all you and your loved ones have to do is spend final moments together. MAID is legal in California since 2016.
